"How much are you going to pay me?" this reader asked when I told him about my peoplereading project. I gave him a dollar which, he explained, was a symbolic gesture. However, he claimed he was too busy to talk because he was looking up the words in the dictionary.

This is one of the first books he's read in English. He speaks five languages--a dialect of Italian, Italian, French, Spanish, and English. Recently he also read Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, also in English.
