Reading Predator, by Patricia Cornwell. Recently he has read Memoirs of a Geisha, by Arthur Golden, Dan Brown's books, and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norwell, by Susanna Clarke.
He reads all the time and goes through about one book a day. If he hasn't connected with anything in the book by about page sixty he puts it down and reads something else. This happens about once a month. Among other things, he looks for well written characters.
