Reading Heart Full of Lies, by Ann Rule, who used to be a crime reporter in Seattle. She enjoys the author's books, though sometimes there's excessive character development.
Other authors she reads are James Patterson and Tony Hillerman, who are perfect for BART--the stories are fast moving and the chapters are short.
