On the way home for the holidays. I've always wanted to take a picture of this sign. Of all the things to be concerned about when getting on a plane...

Back to the blog:

Reading The Inheritance of Loss, by Kiran Desai. She has just returned from doing some work for Google in India and said it's the best book she's read in a long time--it's funny, poetic, political and gives an amplified look of Indian culture. The author is the youngest person to win the Man Booker Prize. Her mother, famous author Anita Desai, has been nominated several times, but has never won. Here's a mother/daughter interview.

Recently she read One Night @ the Call Center, by Chetan Bhagat, which is about the BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) industry. It was recommended to her by people she was interviewing while she was there. The climax of the book--God calls.

When I pulled out the book that I was reading, The Sparrow, by Mary Doria Russell, she said she'd read it too, that it was (and I agree), great.
