Reading Winning, by Jack Welch

in the sunshine in Union Square,

amid a call for free hugs

and preparation of a horse for an Indian wedding at the nearby Sir Francis Drake hotel.

He and his wife are visiting from Sweeden and exploring San Francisco before he goes on to Las Vegas for business. He said that they have thoroughly enjoyed the city--especially the walks they've been on to Telegraph Hill and around Buena Vista heights.

Recently he read Catch Twenty-Two, by Joseph Heller and Mystic River, by Dennis Lehane.

Of Sweedish authors he recommends Henning Mankell, who writes crime novels which are set in the southern part of the country and have been translated into English.
