Reading Love in the Time of Cholera, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It had been recommended to him by several friends. Before this he read The Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger, which he liked for the challenge of the narrative structure.

His two favorite books--the "novelette", In Watermelon Sugar, by Richard Brautigan and The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera. He said that, while the characters (in Unbearable Lightness of Being) are one-dimensional, somehow he was able to relate to all of them. He liked the psychological and analytical aspects as well.
