At the Crocker Galleria on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, reading a San Francisco history and guidebook, published by Knopf Guides. Every time she reads it she learns something new.
She's up visiting from Pebble beach and waiting for her grandson to come and tour around with her, though she's familiar with the area. She went to Mills, studying English for two years before dropping out to get married--and she doesn't regret it!
Her favorite book of all time--Eldorado, by Bayard Taylor. She says it's the most vivid, interesting book about California. Taylor came out West at the time of the gold rush from New York, reporting for a newspaper, and tells of what went on...and he even walked from San Francisco to Monterrey.
