At Dog Eared Books (at Valencia and 20th), a reading by the writers in a writing workshop headed by local author, Camille Roy.
One of the best readings was the Kroll family's presentation of Family Farm in the City. It's a biographical comic book about their front-yard farm in the Richmond District and the trials they went through to grow enough food for a Thanksgiving dinner.
Zoe Kroll and her parents, Redwood and Kat Kroll
After the reading I ran into friends of a friend who I'd met the night before at a birthday party. They read The Family Farm, too
before we went our separate ways--walking down Valencia...not climbing up a bean stalk.
