Reading USA der Westen, a guidebook. When I asked what they liked about San Francisco they said "the pier"....which I in my post-work weariness automatically interpreted as "the beer"...which was confusing because they said they were from Germany. It wasn't until after I tried to figure out which of our San Francisco beers were on par with their standard, and what made "39" so good that I realized my mistake. They also liked the view from Coit Tower.

His favorite book--Dan Brown's The Illuminati. Hers-- the Shopaholic books, by Sophie Kinsella. She read three of them in German and the last one in English. She likes them for their humor.
