Reading Post Office, by Charles Bukowski. It's the first book by an American author he's read in a long time. He has his degree in Russian literature from Berkeley and his favorite Russian novel is Master and Margarita, by Mikhail Bulgakov. Other favorites--Eugene Onegin, by Aleksandr Pushkin and Brothers Karamzov, by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
His thoughts on Post Office so far--"grimy." It was the first thing Bukowski wrote after being offered $100 a month for life if he quit working for the post office and wrote full time.
