Reading Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens. It's a New Year's resolution to read more of the classics. She found a list online put out by Norwegian Book Clubs, of the 100 best works of fiction, determined by 100 writers from 54 countries--here's their picks. From it so far she's read Don Quixote, by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and Midnight's Children, by Salman Rushdie.

A book she read again and again when she was a kid--though she's not sure if she'd still like it--was Alas, Babylon, by Pat Frank. It's a post apocalyptic novel set in Florida.
