Reading Inside the Animal Mind, by George Page. So far he's just gotten to read about insects and dogs, but the chimps are coming. What's he learned? That insects rely upon instinct, not problem solving skills.

An author he recommends--Dan Simmons. All his books, he says, have different styles--he's very versatile, if you didn't know it was the same author you wouldn't believe it.
