Outside at the San Francisco Green Festival, reading a comic book he just purchased-- Fighting for G.O.D. (Gold, Oil and Drugs), by Jeremy Begin and Lauren Salk.
Favorite books--The Road to Reality: A Complete Guide to the Laws of the Universe, a physics book (he's a theoretical physicist). If you can live with the math, he says, it's a good read because it doesn't sacrifice anything for accuracy. There's no sugar coating. Not recommended, though, for those without a college background in science.
He also recommends The Idiot, by Dostoevsky. Not recommended for those in that category. He likes how it explores the fallacies of our own thinking and how emotions mixed with reality create delusions.
