Reading Book 2, Surprise, by Paulina Dashkova. It was recommended by a friend and it's good.
A favorite--the Lord of the Rings series. She likes it best in English. She tried reading three different Russian translations--she's Russian--but the translations don't hold light to the original. The translations of names trips her up.
Recently she read Around the World in Eighty Days, by Jules Verne.
If she were to write her own book it'd be about--no hesitation--her grandma, who was born in Russia in 1907 and lived through the October Revolution and the first and second World Wars.
