Reading Lost Light, by Michael Connelly. She likes Murders, Westerns, a little Romance, though, Romance, she said, often gets boring.
If she were to write her own book? It'd be a murder, no torture, though. She doesn't like sadistic killers. It would be set in modern day San Francisco--everybody knows the landmarks.
She likes a book that is quick and light, that's easy to put down when the train comes to a stop. She avoids books that'll keep you up until 2am.
