Reading The Flight of the Wild Gander, by Joseph Campbell.

Occasionally he reads Jung and James Hillman. He's never bought Jung's system and believes that a lot of what they says is rubbish, with some truth mixed into the profundity.

He tends to think scientifically, but these guys open up the more artistic, poetic basis of thinking. In psychology they teach you to diagnose and categorize, but these guys are broader thinkers.

What got him into reading? The Lord of the Rings series, at about age seven or eight.
