December 7, Sunday afternoon -- Reading Ron Hansen

Across the street from the hippest brunch place in town (think vegan biscuits and gravy)--Boogaloos--selling his friend's t-shirts and his own water colors. He wanted to get out of the house and have the space of mind to read.Reading, Desperadoes, by Ron Hansen. He enjoys literary westerns, like Lonesome Dove, by Larry McMurtry. He's also recently been reading Cormac McCarthy and Norman Mailer.

A favorite book--War and Peace, by Leo Tolstoy which he read one summer on the beach when he was young, while working as a bar tender at night.

If he were to write his own book, it might be titled Portrait of Artist as a Cynical Bitter Old Man, he said, though with a smile. It's tough being an artist! His blog address where he has some of his work displayed -- www.rfsketch.blogspot.com . Here's his friend's website, who made the t-shirts he was selling--lightningcoyote.com.
Do any of your favorite books coincide with the great times of your life in which you read them?

The Stand by Stephen King
15 years ago, while i was in California for my sisters wedding, to hide from the chaos, i curled up with that book and enjoyed its escape! Whenever i see it anywhere sitting on a shelf, it reminds me of that trip to Cali :)
