February 19, Thursday evening -- Reading Guillermo Gómez-Peña

Waiting for the bus Reading Ethno-Techno: Writings on Performance, Activism and Pedagogy, by Guillermo Gómez-Peña. She recently heard him speak at the California College of the Arts.

You probably know who he is, she said, and told me about Gómez-Peña's performance art piece, "couple in a cage," where he and Coco Fusco pretended to be undiscovered Amerindians. It was controversial, she explained, because some people believed the story.

Her own book, it'd be about experimental pedagogy, bringing diverse people together in artistic environments -- I think she said it more eloquently.
