There are several books in the series, about different San Francisco neighborhoods and topics, too, like the one he just finished reading about the San Francisco police department. He's a true local -- was born and raised in the South of Market neighborhood, not too far from City Hall, near where I took his photo. Things, he said, haven't changed much since he was a kid -- a few new buildings, and not as many stray cats, dogs, and pigeons, too, due to policy to clean things up, catching the dogs and cats and poisoning the pigeons.

If he were to write his own book, it'd be about San Francisco history. He really likes reading San Francisco non-fiction.
