At Ritual Coffee Roasters, on Valencia Street Reading Brief Encounters with Che Guevera, a collection of stories by Ben Fountain. He has another book ready, waiting on the table for when he finishes this one.

A favorite-- also a collection of stories, this one by Breece D'J Pancake, set in the hills of and about the people of West Virginia. (It was in these West Virginia hills, in my tour of the U.S. in Summer 2007, that I learned the word anarcho-syndicalism. I love to say it. Anarcho-syndicalism. It's the branch of anarchism which focuses on the labor movement.)
