April 29, 2014, Tuesday afternoon -- Reading Harper Lee

In Union Square

Reading To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee.  It's her first time reading it and she decided it was time.  She usually reads books on her kindle, but found this in an art library.  Ironically, Harper Lee just agreed to allow her book to be released in electronic format.  Here's a link to the CNN story, in which Harper Lee is quoted as saying, "I'm still old-fashioned. I love dusty old books and libraries...  This is Mockingbird for a new generation."
Good books she's read recently include The Goldfinch, by Donna Tartt, which just won the Pulitzer Prize and Dear Sugar, by Cheryl Strayed, about the author's experience being an advice columnist for The Rumpus.
