Reading Secret Soldiers, by Philip Gerard, which talks about, in part "sonic deception" in World War II--for instance, at night or in bad weather, they would drive trucks around, far from the soldiers and outfit them with record players and speakers, playing sounds that would come from a tank.
He flipped through the book and showed me 1943 photographs of fashion designer, Bill Blass, dressed in army uniform.
