Reading The Wandering Fire, by Guy Gavriel Kay, which was so good he was reading it while he was walking through the BART station. It's part of a triology he's read five times. He likes the writing style and it's great escapism. Other books he's read recently are A Mind So Rare, a cognitive science book by Merlin Donald and Under the Banner of Heaven, by John Krakauer.

In comment to my observation that he was walking while reading he said that he heard on KTVU 2 that reading was among the dangerous things people do while driving, other activities being text messaging, putting on makeup, and getting dressed. ...isn't that what books on tape are for?
