Reading Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles, by Margaret George. This is the second time she's read it. The first time she loved it so much she went out and bought two more copies and sent them to her mother and her sister. She's rereading it becuase she recently finished another novel which took her up to this point in history.

Almost every wall of her house is covered with bookshelves and she has stacks of books everywhere--maybe even a thousand. In addition to historical fiction and the occasional sci fi book, she reads a lot of nonfiction--psychology, religion, science, anthropology (she has an anthropology degree) and archaeology (her father was an archaeologist), and is especially interested in the Mayans.

Both she and her husband share common ground with their love of author Tony Hillerman who writes South-West cowboy mysteries. Here's his wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Hillerman
