Reading Hollywood Babylon, by Kenneth Anger, a 1970's experimental filmmaker. The book is filled with great pics and gossipy stories starting from the 20's. She said the book is a good historical document of the mood of the times. She's had the book "forever" and is now on a campaign to read her old books!! Recently she read a book about filmmaker, Jean-Luc Godard, by Colin MacCabe.
Her favorite book of all time is Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, because of how well it's written. She remarked that not only is the plot very tight, but Austen was a smart woman living in her time who made a lot of very shrewd observations.
