Reading Hard As Nails, by Dan Simmons, while enjoying a beer after work. Recently he read Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, by Anthony Bourdain. Some of his favorite books are East of Eden, by John Steinbeck; Gangs of America, The Rise of Corporate Power and the Disabling of Democracy, by Ted Nance; and Coercion: Why We Listen to What "They" Say, by Douglass Rushkoff.
After our book discussion, the reader engaged in a face-off with my friend over who could name the most establishments in San Francisco where you can get kombucha.
