After Charlie Anders' Writers with Drinks, we mobbed the sushi place around the corner and my friends and I had to sit with a (very nice) stranger who just happened to be reading a book. He kindly let us share his table and even ordered an extra round of sake to keep us company and tell us about the goings on at today's Green Festival. The best talk: Micologist, Paul Stamemts, on how fungus (or mushrooms...not quite sure what the distinction is) can help us clean up oil spills and also, quite possibly, cure bird flu and HIV.

He's reading Static: Government Liars, Media Cheerleaders, and the People who Fight Back, by Amy and David Goodman, who also spoke today at the Green Festival. Another highlight of his day--meeting Oakland City Council candidate, Amy Allison.

Thanks for letting us share your table!
