Reading Snowflower and the Secret Fan, by Lisa See. It's the second sighting of this book on this blog. The reader recalls a quote by Jane Austen which was in Azar Nafisi's Reading Lolita in Tehran, which said something about the power of a book to transport the reader somewhere else. This book by Lisa See, she says, does exactly that, taking the reader to Ancient China.
