Reading In Cahootz, by Quentin Carter. She gets all of her books (and recommendations) from Alexander Book Company, a great little bookstore on Second and Market. Within the past two weeks she's read Hood Winked, also by Quentin Carter; Chasing Destiny, by Eric Jerome Dickey; Hoodlum and Hoodrat, by K'wan (listen to his podcast, which discusses, among other things, the idea of whether the stereotypes of black women should be emphasized in literature, how he turned to writing from hustling pot because he didn't want to feed his kids with dirty money and why he holds book readings in barbershops and beauty salons).

Her favorite book of all time--Street Dreams, also by K'wan, published by Triple Crown. She says they publish really great urban stuff. Forget about the glossy covers--it's real.
