December 5, 2007 -- Wednesday night

Reading The Turn of the Screw and Other Short Novels, by Henry James. She's also midway through several other books including something by Tom Robbins, Carson McCullers' The Member of the Wedding and Collapse, by Jared Diamond, which used to be her BART book, but, though it's good, she gets depressed every time she opens it.

A book she recommends to her clients--she's a personal trainer--How to Eat, Move, and Be Healthy, by Paul Chek. Most other fitness books, she said, are crap.

Favorite books? She studied literature and it's hard to just name a few. When she was very young she began reading. She liked Agatha Christie and Mary Poppins--both strong women who, she noted, were a little insane.

Wow, you ran into a lot of intellectual readers in the train that night!
