In the Financial District
Reading The Player of the Games, by Iaian M. Banks. He recently read Consider Phlebas by the same author and wanted more.
His favorite books of all time--Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series.
What was the last author you read that inspired you to read two of their books in a row?

Paulo coelho and Esmeralda Santiago. both have extraordinary stories and amazing characters. Esmeralda santiago's books actually are sequels.
Haruki Murakami
Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Series.
Julia Alverez (the time of the butterflies) led me to all her other books. Also B. Yoshimoto's Kitchen led me to all her other books. Same with Madeline L'Engle, her books for young people led me to her adult non fiction. Anzia Yezierska's Red Ribbon on a White horse led me to all her other work, too.
Steven Erikson
Raymond Williams.
Anne Enright! She's terrific!
Neil Gaiman and Margaret Atwood.
Haruki Murakami as well. Kafka on the Shore was my first Murakami novel, after which I read The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and After Dark.
Paulo Coelho as well and many others like Tad Williams, Bernard Werber and so many more :0)
Jodi Picoult!
Augusten Burroughs and Khaled Hosseini
