There are a number of us who pass books around. I like that because we can then discuss them. I'm not in an official reading club-- just no time --but I do like exchanging ideas about them. I love it when I hear that not only did a coworker read it but then it went to her mom or friend. What a wonderful chain to imagine: books moving from hand to hand!
One time a coworker got very upset with me because I was reading the Satanic Verses! o_O
I'm not aloud to read on the job, and because I work with mainly college students people seem more interested in talking about what happened at the party last night than books, but every once in a while I find someone who would love to trade books with me and discuss them on slow days at work =D
I don't get to read at work, but those fellow employees who know that I read ususally ask me for reading recommendations.
There is really only 1 other person at my work who reads. We sometimes discuss books, and he will ask me if I have one he is looking for at times (I have hundreds on my TBR shelves!) Everyone else just doesn't understand why I read so much. They just don't get it!
My coworkers are all LDS folks who don't approve of quite a few of my literary choices. I guess Anne Rice doesn't make their recommended reading list. Oh well... can't make everyone happy all the time! :-)
my coworkers probably think I don't read enough!
I work in a bookstore - so everyone reads -but I like to knit too and it is almost impossible (for me at least) to do both at the same time!
:)
