October 17, Friday night -- Reading Joel Townsley Rogers

Watching the door at The Blue Room open studios
Reading The Red Right Hand, a scary story by Joel Townsely Rogers. The red right hand is the hand of the murder victim's body, which is missing.

Can you recommend any scary stories?

I just read "We Have Always Lived in This Castle", and "Tha Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson. They were both excellent!

I also love Poe: "The Fall of the House of Usher", "The Masque of the Red Death", "Ligeia" - I am very into gothic fiction right now :)

I have found most of the Victorian Ghost stories by 'M. R. James' to be pretty scary.

I haven't read any "scary stories" recently--I can't even remember the last time...wow. Maybe that would be something to pick up.
