December 8, Monday night -- Reading Ruth Ozeki

Waiting for a ride after her class at City College
Reading My Year of Meats, by Ruth Ozeki, about a Japanese reality TV show about U.S. beef and the housewives who cook it....and the awful side of the meat industry, as discovered by one of the production assistants. It's for her English class. They also read Fastfood Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, by Eric Schlosser, and Everything Bad for You is Good for You: How Today's Popular Culture Is Actually Making Us Smarter, by Steven Johnson. She didn't agree, but it was a good book.

Her own book--it'd be about her life and how she had to learn things by herself, instead of her parents teaching her. She has two kids herself...and another due in March! AND she works and only expects to miss one class of her Spring semester due to the pregnancy.

What was your best English class?
