February 10, Tuesday evening -- Reading an International Schools Services publication

At Harrington's, on Front Street, sitting at the bar
Reading The ISS Directory of International Schools: 2008-2009. He is an English professor and is considering work at an international school - recently he interviewed to work in an African country beginning with the letter "Z" -- this is where the glass of beer I was drinking comes into play. It was either Zimbabwe or Zambia. The book shows what sorts of universities graduates attend, prices of tuition, nationalities of student body, extra curricular programs, etc.

Last really good book he read -- Victory, by Joseph Conrad. The first book that really got him into reading, when he was in High School -- The Sound and the Fury, by William Faulkner.

If he were to write his own book -- actually, he is. It's a history of humanities education, how humanities departments react against budget cuts and how curricula (that's the plural of curriculum) are defended and changed in order to draw more funding.

Hey People Reading,

Just popping in to do my heart some good to see people in places turning the page. Have pushed people on my blog today to get on over here and enjoy this space the way I do!

Thanks for sharing and keeping it up -
