March 13, Friday afternoon -- Reading Donna Gates

In a sunny window at The Scarlet Sage, an independent neighborhood herb shop
Reading Recovering Your Health and Rebuilding Your Immunity: The Ecology Diet, by Donna Gates, with Linda Schatz. The book goes into things like reducing sugar and eating more sea vegetables. (I never eat sugar and regularly get seaweed at a salad bar near my work....and then pair it with meatballs and mashed potatoes. My plate usually looks like an un-curated art show.)

She's here doing taro card readings, though, what she spends more time with -- she reads taro cards for just a couple hours a week -- is teaching emotional freedom techniques. Emotional freedom techniques are sort of like acupuncture, except that instead of needles, you tap (on yourself) with your fingers to create physical changes which then lead to emotional changes. More about this on her website -- www.katewinch.com. I just tried it from a video she links to on her site and enjoyed it.

One of her favorite books right now is The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne.

Her reading choices have evolved from books about animals when she was a child, like Never Count Apples, by the British author, Joyce Stranger (she's British), to books about nature and now, to books about personal development and growth. She still loves books about animals....and nature, too.

She pulled a card from the taro deck for me: growth. The picture on the card was a beautiful collage of forest, a baby's hand, a hand made out of plant life.

She's at The Scarlet Sage on Friday afternoons from 2- 3:30.
