October 30, Saturday afternoon -- Reading Christin Rice

While recovering from foot surgery....

My friend, Christin Rice, reading a short story she wrote about a woman's contemplations while taking a break from her desk job. One of my favorite lines is below. The narrator sits in a garden and thinks and later, after observing the maple trees, contemplates them over hot cocoa.

The Japanese Maples always reminded her of thoughtful old people whispering quiet nostalgia.
