Reading Scar Tissue, by Anthony Kiedis. It's the autobiography of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The title, she said, comes from the scars he got through his drug use. They are her favorite band. She especially likes their song, Under the Bridge.

Other books she's read recently are The Jane Austen Book Club, by Karen Joy Fowler; The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, by Mark Haddon; and Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality and Searching for God Knows What, by Donald Miller.

Her favorite book of all time--The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand, for its theme of the individual going against what everyone else believes he should be.

She also really liked the Harry Potter books for their spiritual element. She drew a Biblical allusion to the love Harry's parents had for him that protected him against, among others, Voldemort.
