Reading Tourist Season, which is part of a series by Karl Hiaasen. Which number? He doesn't know. Though over the past two months he's read several of the other books in the series and, though they have the same characters running throughout, the books actually make sense out of order.

What he likes about them is this--they lend themselves well to twenty-minute BART rides, because they're written with short sections.

His favorite books of all time are Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

I really like Hiaasen - even though his books are, IMO, vacation reads (or, like this guy said, easily read on PT), they're really smart and have some clever things to say about politics and the environment.
