December 29, Monday afternoon -- Reading John Irving

At the trendy Four Barrel Coffee on Valencia
Reading A Prayer for Owen Meany, by John Irving. He found it on a plane about six months ago with a dollar in it as a book mark. The dollar--gone. The book--here to stay. He's loving the foreshadowing (in retrospect, of course).

Lately he's been reading comics. His favorite--Watchmen, by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. He's also been reading Y: The Last Man, by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra.

On his counter, waiting to be read--Click, by Bill Tancer, about people's behavior online. It just came out in hardcover but he found a used copy for cheap in Santa Cruz. He works in web marketing. Also on his to-read list isJonathan Strange and Mr. Norell, by Susanna Clarke, which runs along the same lines as Harry Potter.

A good book--The Road, by Cormac McCarthy. Its impact has lasted. He read it about a year ago.
What foreshadowing in A Prayer for Owen Meany did you appreciate most?
