April 10, Saturday morning -- Reading a collection of stories edited by Jeffrey M. Elliot

In front of the public library

Reading Kindred Spirits: an anthology of gay and lesbian science fiction stories, edited by Jeffrey M. Elliot. He found it on top of the newspaper boxes down the street and just started it this morning. Before this, he read More than Honor, a book of military science fiction, by David Weber, David Drake, and S.M. Stirling.

He first started reading science fiction when he was eight and picked up a story by Frederik Pohl called Day Million. He spent about a week calculating when the millionth day would really be, multiplying 365.25 over and over again.

A favorite author -- Roger Zelazny.
It wasn't until the end of our conversation when we shook hands and exchanged names that I realized that we had already met. Here's an entry from November 2007. He introduced himself with his first name, but those who don't know his name call him the book man.

Wow--a very interesting taste in books there. He's the kind of person that you'd love to know what he'll be reading next.
